Challenge the practice is addressing: Resource efficiency and sustainable extraction of minerals are important goals for both Finland and the European Union. Arctic Industry and Circular Economy cluster aims to develop regional knowhow on sustainable industry and circular economy activities in Lapland, Finland. The cluster is a part of the wider ARCTIC Smartness concept, which connects actors with common goals in order to develop regional cooperation.

Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: The cluster connects process and mining companies, research institutions, regional authorities and funding mechanisms. It supports collaboration and promotes innovation between the stakeholders.

Expected impact/goal of the practice: The cluster connects different actors to develop new circular economy activities and new sustainable ways to use natural resources. The goal is that Lapland as a region will be a forerunner in sustainable use of natural resources.
