Challenge the practice is addressing: The NEXT project had a work package dedicated to the Social Licence to Explore with the aim of understanding how more environmentally sensitive technologies could help further acceptance of exploration.

Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: Local people near to Gällivare mine in Sweden and Ylitornio in Finland were interviewed. The interviews showed how both the way of communication and the quality of interaction can lead to improved understanding and knowledge about exploration technologies, and in some cases, to a higher level of acceptance towards exploration by local communities.
