Challenge the practice is addressing: This practice addresses the missing opportunities when it comes to quarries. The biggest challenge seems to be to connect all quarry processes and integrate their management in real-time to ultimately improve operational processes. The ultimate goal is to use the full potential in process digitalisation and automation capabilities for the aggregates sector.

Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: The concrete practice includes 8 processes: Site preparation, Extraction, Loading and internal transport, Treatment processing plant, Storage, External transport, Rehabilitation and Business management.

Expected impact/goal of the practice: The ultimate goal is to use the full potential in process digitalisation and automation capabilities for the aggregates sector. The project aims to develop and validate the digitalization and automatization of real-time process control in 5 pilot environments. This will include consideration of: Health & Safety and Security, Efficiency, Selectivity and Profitability, Environmental Impact and Social Acceptance.

Who is the target user group of the practice/intervention or implementing the practice/intervention? This practice is relevant for both industry and public policy makers
