Challenge the practice is addressing: This practice addresses the health and safety performance indicators recommended to be used for the purpose of benchmarking activities by International Council on Mining and Metals member companies. This document provides recommended definitions and reporting boundaries for health & safety performance indicators which need improvement.
Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: The practice addresses three sections: the explicit definition for health & safety performance indicators, the recording of boundaries and supportive guidance for recording injuries, diseases and fatalities. These three sections were defined with relevant unput from ICMM member companies.
Expected impact/goal of the practice: Following the health & safety performance indicators is important to see whether or not injuries, diseases or fatalities were occupational in nature and how to record and classify them according to ICMM benchmarking purposes.
