Challenge the practice is addressing: Based on ICMMs core ideas from their portfolio of recommendations, they have created a number of training resources to help businesses build strong, enduring partnerships with their communities.
Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: Human rights, conflict resolution, interaction with Indigenous Peoples, relocation, and comprehension of levels of community support are all topics included in the training manuals. The materials are designed to give community relations teams on the ground an overview of the main information and useful tools available in ICMM's advice on these topics in an understandable way. Staff members who play a part in establishing and sustaining relationships with the community but are not themselves experts make up the target audience. For enhanced audience relevance, the information might be tailored to a certain website or business. Trainers can use the complete set of notes that come with each slide in each slide pack as a speaking prompt. The slide packs can be printed out for use by participants as manuals. The training materials provide thorough notes on the activities that were led in class. The slide packs are intended to be used when and as needed. Some of the issues are probably applicable to all activities and the whole project life cycle.
Expected impact/goal of the practice: The aim of these training materials is to develop mutually supportive and resilient company-community relationships.
Who is the target user group of the practice/intervention or implementing the practice/intervention? This practice is relevant for companies in the extractive industry.
