Challenge the practice is addressing: All Eldorado sites must meet the minimum performance-based standards set forth by the Sustainability Integrated Management System (SIMS) of Eldorado in the areas of occupational health and safety, environmental performance, social performance, security, and general management of sustainability topics.
Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: SIMS was created in accordance with widely accepted voluntary standards, such as the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, the International Cyanide Management Code, the World Gold Council's Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs), the Mining Association of Canada's Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM), and the Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs) of the World Gold Council (VPSHR). The executive leadership, senior management, mine and country general managers, corporate teams, and a committed set of sustainability experts from throughout Eldorado's operational territories all directly contributed to its development. SIMS is a vital instrument for advancing sustainability performance.
Expected impact/goal of the practice: The first baseline of compliance to the standards was established by these evaluations, which were then utilized to pinpoint the most important areas for ongoing development. The integrated assurance program at Eldorado, which combines internal and external assurance in relation to SIMS and the needs of the international standards and programs to which the firm is a subscriber, will go into effect in 2022.
