Challenge the practice is addressing: Need for improved resource efficiency / Consideration of ore variability Need for improved communication between the different departments in a mining company (breaking silos)
Concrete practice to achieve the expected goal: Geological information of the ore is combined with mineral processing properties in one spatial deposit model and subsequently used as the input to the numerical process model that describes the mineral processing flowsheet. Such an integrated and multi‐disciplinary approach requires resource characterisation by process mineralogy, particle‐based modelling and simulation as well as an economic evaluation.
Expected impact/goal of the practice: Process innovation: Flowsheets are designed and optimised with respect to process structure, unit operations and the selection of process design and control parameters System innovation: Optimization along the value chain with respect to variations of the ore body
Who is the target user group of the practice/intervention or implementing the practice/intervention? This practice is for companies in the extractive industry.
